As a charter member of the Indiana Association of Community
Networks, HCCN is dedicated to providing local content to the global information
resources of the Internet. The community net sponsors this WWW site to show off what a
wonderful place Huntington County is to live, work, and raise a family.
Not-for-profit organizations headquartered in Huntington County are eligible for
free WWW space on our server to disseminate helpful, community-building
information. HCCN sponsors periodic training sessions to help content providers learn to
create and maintain their Web pages. Participants in this free program are asked to obtain
Internet access to monitor and
maintain their Web pages.
Commercial enterprises in Huntington County may
establish a Web presence through many web hosting services.
Space for personal web pages is normally available as part the package of
services provided by Internet access companies.
Dedicated Connections
Huntington County Community Network, Inc., made available the first dedicated Internet
connections to schools, businesses and organizations in Huntington County.
High-bandwidth, always-on Internet connections for one or multiple users are now
available from a number of Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
Dial-up Service
The work of Huntington County Community Network, Inc., brought the first toll-free
dial-up Internet service to Huntington County.
Because a number of commercial Internet Service Providers now offer dial-up and other
connection services in Huntington County, Huntington County Community Network, Inc., no
longer provides this service as an organization. |
